In a nutshell

The research project examines the dynamics of economic inequalities in Lombardy under Venetian rule (15th–18th centuries). To pursue this aim, it adopts an innovative approach that combines the traditional measurement of wealth distribution with a long-term analysis of local fiscal policies. The study seeks to highlight the link between the administration of the tax system and the socio-political inequalities that shaped access to decision-making processes concerning taxation, budget management, and common goods within local communities. The project is funded by Fondazione Cariplo under the call "nequalities Research - Generare conoscenza per ridurre le disuguaglianze 2023".
