Biography
Rachele Scuro (PhD) is a socio-economic historian whose research focuses on late medieval and early modern Italy, with a special focus on the history of Venice and the Venetian State, as well as on the history of Jews in the Euro-Mediterranean context. She has held postdoctoral fellowships at the universities of Basel, Verona, Milano-Bicocca, Cambridge, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice. Currently, she is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Pavia, and an adjunct professor of "History of Venice" at Ca' Foscari University of Venice.
As part of this project, she explores the case study of the city of Bergamo, analysing the interactions between local fiscal management, shifts in socio-economic inequality, and the mitigation strategies adopted by civic institutions during the period of Venetian rule.
